PSALM 46 and 47—Depiction of Events after the Great
Tribulation
Below are two relatively
short Psalms that upon reflection seem to purport the vantage point that is
held with regards to the 5 months of catastrophic judgments during the Day of
the Lord (See “The
Length of the Day of the Lord”) and then the rapture and white throne
judgment thereafter. In the passages, comments of the author are inserted in
blue.
In Psalm 46 (2 x
23-judgment, remembering that the Old Testament chapters are inspired), one can
see God's care and physical protection for His people while the unsaved and the
physical elements of the world are under intense catastrophic judgment which
will in all likelihood occur during the 5 months:
1 ¶ God is our {the elect on earth} refuge and strength, a very present help in
trouble {the trouble will be explained in the ensuing verses}.
2 Therefore will not we {the elect on earth during the 5 months} fear, though the earth
be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; {midst…: Heb. heart of
the seas}
3 Though the waters thereof roar
and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling
thereof {the events of verses 2 and 3 are those that will occur during
the 5 months}.
Selah.

whereof shall make glad the city of

¶ The heathen raged {response
of the unsaved to the events of verses 3 and 4 as shown in Rev 6:12-17}, the kingdoms were
moved: he {God} uttered his voice, the earth melted.

Come, behold the works of the
LORD, what desolations {5 months of catastrophic
continuous judgments} he hath made in the earth.
9
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the
spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
10
Be
still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth {at the end of the five months
every knee bows and God is exalted}.

The
LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Then
in Psalm 47 we can see evidences of rejoicing of final victory, the rapture,
the white throne judgment and the gathering of the elect eternally unto the
Lord:
1 ¶ O clap your hands, all
ye people {the triumphant rejoicing of God's elect after the 5 months of
judgments in Psalm 46}; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the LORD most high is
terrible; he is a great King over all the earth {God is
established as the great King as a result of His triumph at the end of the 5
months}.
3 He shall subdue the
people under us, and the nations under our feet {God then
subdues all the unsaved of the nations under the body of Christ, fulfilling 1 Cor 15:24-25, including Mystery
4 He shall choose our
inheritance for us {the elects' inheritance--which includes their
glorified spiritual bodies--is now being looked about}, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved.
Selah.
5 ¶ God is gone up with a
shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet {rapture
from 1 Thess 4:13-17 is in view}.
6 Sing praises to God,
sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of
all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding {as a
result of their triumph and their glorification with their immortal bodies, the
elect in verses 6 and 7 are praising God who is established as King of all
the earth}.
8 God reigneth
over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his
holiness {God, as reigning King of the earth then sits upon His
white (holiness, purity) throne (Rev 20:11-15) presiding in judgment and
overseeing the eternal condemnation of the heathen}.
9 The princes of the
people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the
shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted. {The gathering of the saved of
earth, the spiritual seed, being sons and daughters of Abraham, who are as
the stars of heaven in number and constitute a great multitude. God
is greatly exalted in the new earth having accomplished His supreme goal
which He purposed prior to creation!}
